Agel R. Machar Declares Bid to Represent Twic County in National Parliament

Agel R. Machar has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the National Parliament representing Akoc and Pan-Nyok Payams of Twic County, Warrap State, on the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) ticket.

Machar made the declaration on Monday during an SPLM membership registration rally in Akoc Payam, where party members and supporters gathered as the party continues its grassroots registration and mobilization activities ahead of the December 2026 general elections.

During the event, Machar pledged to provide a solar power system for Akoc Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) by the end of October, saying the system would provide electricity similar to the solar system recently inaugurated at Pan-Nyok PHCC.

He also pledged to provide 50 chairs for local leadership offices, with 25 chairs allocated to the women’s leadership office and 25 to the youth office.

“Today marks the official declaration and the beginning of the long road ahead toward the December 2026 elections,” Machar said during the event.

The SPLM membership registration exercise in Twic County is part of the party’s broader efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures and register members ahead of the elections. The registration drive is being launched across the county’s six payams, including Akoc and Pan-Nyok.
