The family of South Sudanese political figure Hon. Deng Alor Kuol has confirmed that he has successfully undergone a medical operation at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya following his emergency evacuation from Juba.
Hon. Luka Biong Deng, speaking on behalf of the family, said doctors had indicated that Alor could regain the ability to speak shortly after the operation.
“The family is overwhelmingly delighted” to inform the Abyei community, the people of South Sudan and Sudan, and Alor’s friends and supporters around the world that the operation was successful, Biong said.
Biong expressed particular gratitude to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for supporting Alor during his illness. He highlighted the president’s presence at the airport during Alor’s medical evacuation and his directives to relevant government institutions to provide the necessary support for his treatment.
Biong described President Kiir’s presence at the airport as an exceptional gesture of solidarity toward Alor, whom he referred to as the president’s brother and comrade.
“We will not forget the brotherly and comradeship that you have exhibited during the sickness of your brother and comrade Deng Alor,” Biong said.
The family also thanked the government of South Sudan, the Abyei community and Alor’s friends and supporters for their solidarity, prayers and good wishes during the difficult period.
The family wished Deng Alor a quick recovery as he continues his treatment and recuperation in Nairobi.
