Twic Mayardit Football Association (TMFA) has parted ways with newly appointed Head Coach Simon James Yor, popularly known as Simone, just one day after announcing his appointment.
The association said in a statement that an agreement with Simone had been reached about three weeks ago while he was abroad, before he was officially unveiled as the team's head coach on Saturday.
However, TMFA Management said Simone informed the association on Sunday that he would be unable to take up the position because of a prior commitment.
“Due to a prior commitment, he will be unable to take up the role and lead the team as planned,” the management said.
The association apologized to its fans and supporters for what it described as an unexpected change.
“We sincerely apologize to our fans and supporters for the inconvenience and unexpected change,” TMFA said.
TMFA said it was working to ensure a smooth transition and would announce the appointment of a new head coach in due course.
The decision comes only a day after Simone was officially announced as the new head coach, adding an unexpected turn to the team's preparations for the ongoing BCT tournament.
