In light of the World Breastfeeding Week activities in Twic County, the Commissioner of Twic County, Hon. Mangok Kom Nyuol, has called on male youth who are not in school to take greater responsibility in supporting women in rural communities.
The Commissioner said women in the countryside are increasingly carrying the burden of providing for their families, with many engaged in activities such as collecting and selling firewood, producing and selling charcoal, subsistence farming and other forms of livelihood.
He noted that the situation has left many women shouldering responsibilities that traditionally require the contribution of the entire household, including acting as primary providers for their families.
Hon. Mangok challenged male youth, particularly those who are not pursuing education, to step up and actively contribute to their families and communities instead of spending their time idle or gambling in casinos around the markets.
He urged young men to use their energy and time productively by supporting women in rural areas, engaging in agriculture and other income-generating activities, and taking responsibility for the welfare of their families.
